Nineteenth-century transatlantic literatures; New Zealand literature; postcolonial studies; affect
I received my B.A. (Hons) and M.A. from Victoria University of Wellington before coming to Chicago in 2018. My most recent research project sought to describe the emergence of affective economies of credit and mutual obligation in maritime novels by Herman Melville. I have also written on the figure of the colonial archive in contemporary New Zealand historical fiction.
