Hunter's current research juxtaposes mid-century social scientific texts on sexuality with contemporaneous artistic discourses to uncover the aesthetics of sexology, or the ways in which historically contingent aesthetic logics and affective desires undergird and shape the production of sexual knowledge otherwise deemed authoritative, objective, and/or “true” because of its ostensible scientificity. More specifically, he is interested in the erotics of the list and how its form relates to the collective multiplicity of radical queer politics. His writing can be found in InVisible Culture with forthcoming essays in ASAP/R and Art Journal.
