Rachel Galvin received a $30,000 faculty grant from the Franke Institute for the Humanities for The Poesía Latina Project, which supports research for her current book project. Over the next three years, Galvin will conduct videotaped interviews with contemporary poets, editors, literary leaders, and cultural mavens in Chicago, around the U.S., and in Latin America, producing a repository of original material. The interviews will be made available online in a research and teaching resource housed on a dedicated website. Some in-person interviews will be accompanied by a public poetry reading or performance, which will also be recorded. At the end of the grant period, Galvin will hold a symposium on Latinx literary studies featuring some of the project’s participants.
